Over the past 30 years, the preschool has seen many committed families, who form the Management Committee, overseeing the long term future of the preschool. Staffing at Bentley Community Preschool has been very consistent, with Lee-Anne Gibson working for nearly 30 years at the preschool. Our current Director Belinda Smith has a Bachelor of Education and has been the preschools Director for over 2.5 years.
Bentley Preschool is a small preschool however; Educators continue to grow and research new ways of working with preschoolers, implementing best practices that fit with our ‘image of the child’ and philosophy to the best of our abilities so that children and families receive the high quality education that we are proud to offer.
Our outdoor program we are able to incorporate a bush preschool were we go on outdoor visits to our back paddock to collect bush lemons, explore the beautiful native trees and explore the natural environment and what it has to offer.
Bush preschools or just visiting the bush have many benefits :
- Increased confidence, motivation and concentration, increased social, physical and language skills, deeper conceptual understandings and respect for the natural environment.
- Increased social and imaginative play
- More varied risk-taking behaviours and positive dispositions towards risk and challenge
